Shopping:
Boasting a guildhall, historic buildings and cobbled streets, Faversham town centre is a small yet delightful spot to shop. The town has a fine selection of unique shops and businesses, perfect for boutique and leisure shopping
Faversham is also home to Kent’s oldest market, mentioned in the Domesday Book. There are three different markets each month, taking place in Faversham’s town centre.
- Faversham Charter Markets on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, selling a selection of food, drink, clothing, plants and homewares.
- Best of Faversham Market on the first and third Saturday of each month, featuring local artisan arts, crafts and produce.
- Faversham Antiques Market on the first Sunday of the month, specialising in antiques, decorative items and collectibles from across the decades.
Top tip:
Most months, all three Faversham markets coincide with the first weekend of the month, creating what is popularly known as Triple Market Weekend. This is the perfect time to visit Faversham.

Food & drink:
Faversham has a wide selection of places to eat and drink. Its take-aways, cafes, pubs and restaurants will leave you spoilt for choice, whether you’re looking for a cooked breakfast, delicious light lunch, afternoon tea or a meal out with family and friends.
For local, fresh food and drink, Faversham Market is home to terrific bakers, growers and local producers with stalls selling fruit, vegetables, cider, beer, cheese, baked goods, mushrooms, juices and preserves. You can also buy produce from town centre shops including a delicatessen, two butchers and three bakers!
Top tip:
The popular Macknade Food Hall on the outskirts of Faversham has an extensive selection of produce from Kent, the UK and Europe. It also serves food at its café and outdoor food court.

There are also many attractions in Faversham centre you can enjoy. Whether it’s a tour round Shepherd Neame, the country’s oldest brewer; a splash about in Faversham Pool’s heated outdoor and indoor pools; a visit to Creek Creative’s gallery which hosts regular displays of local art; or a show at Faversham’s independent Royal Cinema.
History:
Faversham is a Cinque Port and has a fascinating history courtesy of its strategic position near the coast and its wealth of royal connections The Town’s setting perfectly captures centuries of history, with a backdrop of picturesque Medieval, Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings.
History buffs can view Faversham’s fine selection of charters at the Magna Carta Exhibition, or learn more about Faversham’s fascinating history at the charming Fleur de Lis Museum. For an in-depth insight in to Faversham’s past, visitors can join a Historic Faversham Guided Walk organised by the Faversham Society.
Top tip:
Walk down medieval Abbey Street to Standard Quay and visit shops and places to eat in a gorgeous Creekside location. The quay boasts a historic trail with warehouses and buildings dating from early medieval times. From here, visitors can enjoy a walk through Iron Wharf Boatyard and enjoy the countryside by Faversham Creek.

Faversham is a charming market town surrounded by Kent’s beautiful countryside and located by the marshes of Faversham Creek. Famous for its picturesque buildings and historic Market Place, the town has been home to a thriving market for over 1,000 years.
Faversham is easy to reach by train from London or the Kent Coast with access by car via the A2/M2. There are plenty of car parks in central Faversham – the postcode for Central Car Park is ME13 8PW.
